Bethany's interest in politics and government began through YMCA Youth in Government, a high school program where she was elected to leadership positions at annual conferences that modeled state government, the United Nations, and a national affairs debate conference. In the summer of 2004, Bethany served as a Page in the U.S. House of Representatives for Congressman Mark Kennedy. Inspired by her experiences in Washington, Bethany returned home and got involved in the College Republicans chapter at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, where she was taking classes during her senior year of high school. Bethany's involvement in the 2006 campaign, as Chair of her home chapter, through her work on the successful Michele Bachmann for Congress campaign (MN-06), and as a member of the state board as a metro regional vice chair, lead her to her election as state chairman in the spring of 2007. Currently, Bethany is a Political Science senior at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities and works as the Youth Director for the Republican Party of Minnesota. She is serving her second term as chairman of the Minnesota College Republicans, and was recently elected as Midwest Regional Vice Chair of the College Republican National Committee.
Bethany is thrilled to be a part of the Team as the nation's focus turns to the competitive races that the Midwest holds during this election cycle. She is also proud to welcome the nation to Minneapolis – Saint Paul for the 2008 Republican National Convention, where she is a member of the Minnesota host delegation.

John Swanson grew up in Northern California and Southern Oregon before attending Willamette University. In the spring of 2005, John was elected state chairman of the Oregon Federation of College Republicans. The leadership of John and his team produced stellar results, growing the federation from six chapters to 22 and generating more than 110,000 voter contacts recorded by College Republicans during the 2006 election cycle.
In addition to this organizational output success, John made his mark as a persistent fund raiser during his term, raising an unprecedented net total of $93,000 for the OFCR through individual solicitation and the implementation of an effective direct mail program, all without an existing house list of donors prior to his term. In light of such fund raising success, John was asked by Chairman Charlie Smith to become the finance director of the CRNC.
John intends on raising money for the CRNC and providing fund raising advice to state federations.
